Happy Birthday, America!

Nicholas keeps asking when we get to have some birthday cake, since it's America's birthday. Good question!

We enjoyed the Lacey fireworks show last night with my friend Shelly and her family. Nicholas gasped and covered his ears when the first one went off in the sky. He was a little afraid, but about halfway through he decided to uncover his ears. He kept asking how they work, but I don't know. Guess we'll look it up on the internet. Andi loved it, and liked comforting her friend Allison, who was scared and spent the first half of the show with her eyes covered!

This morning we slept late, then went to catch some of the Tumwater parade. Andi wanted to hug every horse, pony, llama and alpaca that went by us. Nicholas was most excited by the fire trucks, of course.

A funny story from yesterday: Andi was trying to put toothpaste on her toothbrush by herself (of course) while I was getting ready in the morning. I looked over and she had wrapped up the toothpaste in a washcloth and was cradling it. She said, "Rock a baby toothpaste!" Later in the grocery store, she "Rocked a baby soup!", too.
